The
Alex Area Stewards
initiative is an effort to ensure a successful future for our
community.
We believe that the only way
that our community can retain and increase our success is by
working together towards a common
vision for our future.
To identify the shared vision
for our future, we are listening carefully to our community
members through the use of a Community Perception Survey and
through a number of conversations with groups and organizations
throughout the region.
What is the motivation for the Alex Area
Stewards initiative?
The motivation behind the Alex Area Stewards
initiative is the desire to create a brighter future for all of
our community members and to continue strengthening the reasons
why the Alexandria Regional Community is one of the best places
in the world live. We strongly believe that the best days
of our community area ahead of us, but we can only get there if
we all get on the same page and work together.
When did this all start?
In April of 2008, a group of interested citizens
of the Alexandria Regional Community began thinking about how to
continue the success of our community into the future.
They hired the Center for Community Stewardship, who has
successfully led similar efforts in other communities, to begin
the conversation in our area. From these conversations,
the Advantage Alexandria Area initiative was formed. As
the initiative has grown and developed throughout the past year,
the name was changed to the Alex Area Stewards, which the group
members feels better represents the initiative focus and
efforts.
